Conference on Opportunities for Multilateral Business Partnerships in Urban planning, Infrastructure, Bamboo, Startups, Skill Development, Nursing and Paramedics

01–03 March 2023, Aizawl, Mizoram

About the Conference

Urban Planning Almost 60% of the world’s population, 4.4 billion inhabitants, live in cities, and the urban population is expected to double in size by 2050. Infrastructure construction has been bolstered by government efforts worldwide to invest in projects to generate economic growth momentum. With more than 80% of global GDP generated in cities, urbanisation can contribute to sustainable growth through increased productivity and innovation if managed well. India offers a great opportunity for Urban Developers to invest with the Government of India spending big on developing greener and smarter cities and urban hubs. World Bank report estimates that India will need to invest $840 billion over the next 15 years—or an average of $55 billion per annum—into urban infrastructure to effectively meet the needs of its fast-growing urban population. By 2036, 600 million people will be living in urban cities in India, representing 40 percent of the population.

India is the world’s second largest cultivator of bamboo after China, with 136 species and 23 genera spread over 13.96 million hectares. Bamboo can be used in different ways including as food, a substitute for wood, building and construction material, for handicrafts and paper. Mizoram has abundant natural Bamboo resources. Around 57% of the geographical area of Mizoram is under Bamboo cover. It offers immense potential for commercial exploitation of the natural resources for export-oriented industries.

The global labor market has been undergoing a transformation over the past several years with major shift in focus from degrees to skills. 69% of employers globally – a 15-year high – are struggling to find workers with the right blend of technical skills and human strengths including accountability, reliability and discipline, resilience, stress tolerance and adaptability. Against a number of 12.8 million workers that annually enter the Indian workforce, the existing capacity of skills development programme in India is 3 million per annum. This  throws up opportunities for  skills providers from across the world to work with their Indian counterparts to help India scale-up to meet its skills objective.

Conference would focus on opportunities for multilateral business partnerships in Urban planning, Infrastructure, Bamboo & Skill Development. The conference would also highlight opportunities for collaboration and investments in the areas of Startups, Nursing and Paramedics. Partnerships would bring together resources and encourage startups to innovate and find solutions to the development challenges and explore expansion opportunities in the global market. Globally there is an incremental shortage of Nurses and Paramedics with an ever growing demand. Apart from the training, with an inherent strength of proficiency in English language and a compassionate spirit, Mizoram youth makes very good nurses and paramedics professionals.
